SERGIO MITRE HEADED BACK TO THE BRONX
According to Tom Haudicourt of the Milwaukee Journal, Sergio Mitre is being sent to to the Yankees for cash considerations. He should be a viable bullpen option.
Mitre was designated for assignment on Monday, by the Brewers.
UPDATE 10:35PM EST: Buddy Carlyle has been DFA’d to make room for Mitre.

The thing that makes me mad is that they DFA’d Buddy Carlyle. He was pretty good in the bullpen, and I had seen Mitre pitch in games when he was a Brewer for a good minute and a half, and what I saw wasn’t exactly pretty. Well, what’s done is done. Maybe David Robertson can teach him a few tricks about pitching in New York.
Don’t forget Mitre was a Yankee before hopefully he can pitch like he use to. It is a shame that Carlyle was the low man on the totem pole
Well, from the statistical point of view, here is what Mitre looks like this year: a solid 3.27 ERA, however 30 hits in 33 IP is a bit of a cause for concern for a bullpen guy, and 10 BB with only 14 K. But he should a minor, minor upgrade over what they’ve had of late.
Nice to see Mitre back in the fold. He can be used in a lot of ways. He could make a spot start if someone goes down and was actually a pretty decent long man.
agreed on all points. Looks like you got a win in Staten Island Ricky
yeah that was a great game.
That SI team can really hit. They have a young second baseman in Angelo Gumbs who hit 2 HR’s and had a RBI double in a 6 run 8th inning! A 9-1 win was nice to see. Hey, they have won 9 in a row. They have good defense in the field, but they have a first baseman also named Nunez who made an error! What irony!
ha that’s funny. thanks for the Recap. what did you think of Cito Culver?
Culver did not have a good day at the plate and neither did Mason Williams, but Culver made 2 6-3 DP’s on defense and did a nice job in the field. Him and Gumbs were a nice combo. Nothing seemed to get by them
