  1. SO many injuries at the wrong time of the season. Tampa is looking hot now. Boston has to be worried about it’s wild card chances.

  2. Nice again Delia…
It is strange that they needed to give an evaluation to Brett to find he was exhausted, could it be they are taking him for granted? At 5′ 10″ and 180# and the way he plays, he needs day off every so often.
I don’t know how many of you fans have ever taken a ball off the thumb but, for those of you that have, you know of which I speak!
It hurts and then it feels ok in a day or so but, nay nay, not so fast! The least amount of pressure on the thumb…like hitting a baseball or catching a ball, will sometimes bring the pain back…with a vengeance. I have had them hang on for a month or more.

  3. This team is in really bad shape with the injuries and just plan exhaustion. I really thought today they should have given all the regulars the day off with a day game after a night game and the whole team looking pitiful.

    I would have went with:

    SS Nunez
    rf Dickerson
    C Montero
    dh Posada
    3b Chavez
    lf Jones
    1b Laird
    2b pena
    cf Golson

    • I hear ya Fish…but you have to try to win today’s game esp with Boston losing there game. WE need to pull away.

      • I know what you are saying Matt but you don’t want to hurt yourself going forward. The guys are beat and that’s when they are susceptible to injury. With Swish, ARod, Cervelli & Martin already out they can’t afford anymore injuries. All the games are important but the well being of the team and being prepared for the post-season should take precedence.

The team looks like a bunch of zombies just going through the motions and there’s no day off til Thursday with another flight coming up after todays game.

You could argue that resting the starters and going with fresh players would actually be the best way to go for a win. Play a little small ball and try to manufacture a win.

        Grandy is 5 for his 41 and 0 for 12 with 6Ks
        Gardner is 1 for 19
        Tex is 2 for 13
        Cano is 2 for 19

Jeter is the only regular that doesn’t look drained and he’s been having decent ABs but hes only 3 for 13.

Facing a tough pitcher in Ervin Santana, the only plus is they have been great in Day games this year.

        • Fishjam…
I also, hear what you are getting at and like the thinking behind it. Use the speed and play little ball…as you say.
After watching this game, it looks as though Cano, Grandy and Brett may be on the way out of their slumps.
          Grandy–HR
          Cano–HR and a single
Brett–three hard hit balls, better then striking out!
Are they getting a second wind or is it just an aberration?

  4. We should learn a lot about Montero’s catching ability today. Garcia is a tough pitcher to handle….not quite as hard as AJ but Garcia makes a living getting hitters to chase pitches in the dirt.

  5. Montero looking good behind the plate so far….

Just gunned out Alberto Callaspo with a perfect pea to 2B on a tough pitch to throw on…a slow slider an inch off the dirt.

  6. Hopefully they can hold this lead.

  7. Yankees win…now 4 up on the Bsox!

  8. Big win today. Took advantage of the big error by the CF and got GREAT relief pitching with 4 shutout innings.

The Rays are coming up HARD on Boston. This might get interestingas they are within 3.5 games and only 3 games in the Loss column for the Wild Card. Boston is banged up and slumping while a lot of Tampa’s young players are blossoming at the right time.

Price, Shields, Davis & Hellickson are all dealing at the same time. Longoria is back to playing like an elite player and rookie Desmond Jennings has brought a spark to the entire team with 9 HRs & 15 SBs in 46 games. Thankfully we have a 7 game lead on them with only 16 games left because they are charging and play us 7 more times!!

BOS has to be concerned since they host a 4-game series again on Thursday with TB.
