  1. Brett Cecil was scratched earlier today. Dustin McGowan is pitching for the Jays instead.

  2. Love the intentional walk of Bautista in the bottom of the 8th with 1st & 3rd. Bautista is the best hitter in the American League and Encarnacion is average.

I know you load the bases and put a 2nd runner in scoring position but I think its a great call. A base hit by Jose gives them the lead….I want no part of him.

He’s the only guy in that lineup you can’t let beat you. I like Lind and I think Brett Lawrie is going to be an absolutely outstanding player but Jose Batts is the guy to avoid,

    • Fishjam….
I don’t follow very many players from other teams but, Lawrie is one of those I have been keeping an eye on. He has shown very well so far this year, next year is the check point for him. I like him very much great, “D” and as a hitter…next year will tell.

  3. I like Brett Lawrie too. Toronto could be the surprise of 2012 with all the young talent they have offensively. They just need to get some young pitchers like Drabek, Morrow, or even their guy last night McGowan to pitch up to expectations.

As a note, there are just 3 podcasts left in the regular season. So, always Yankee nation, I want to hear from you on your thoughts on the 2 Rays series and the Red Sox series next weekend

    • Ricky…
You are right with the pitchers they have, plus the younger guys on the team and those coming up!
We can’t forget our own guys that may be in the mix next year. Noesi, Nova, Betances, Brackman, Banuelos, Stonebumer, Phelps, Warren, Mitchell and Kontos…all of them have talent but, a few of them are a year or so away. Guys like Brackman are more suited to the BP and don’t forget the forgotten man Joba, will be back better then ever!
We also have a few position players that may be able to move up, if not this year maybe 2013/14.
Big HR hitters are nice…we have a few…but, may I reiterate; “Speed Kills” and we have a couple of them around.

      • ig HR hitters are nice…we have a few…but, may I reiterate; “Speed Kills” and we have a couple of them around.”

Amy Winehouse just called and says keep her out of your comments

    • Ricky -

I agree …Toronto is going to keep getting better. They already have 3 of the hardest things to find…a legit MVP-type hitter, a lefty ace pitcher and a solid SS in his prime.

Add in a potential perennial all-star 3B in Lawrie and you have the makings of a good team. Yunel Escobar, Lind, Eric Thames & Arencebia are solid players and they picked up 2 talented players having off yrs in Rasmus & Kelly Johnson. Those 2 should be better next yr.

Pitching-wise they have their ace in Ricky Romero. .. They need one of the young guys that you mentioned to step up…Drabek, McGowan or even the kid who pitched today looks promising. He’s got a mid 90s fastball with good tail and hes only 21. Morrow has great strikeout stuff and will get better as he matures.

    • Tampa Bay will be even better next yr.

They have the best starting rotation in the division and will be adding the top Minor Lg pitching prospect to that in Matt Moore.

Ricky – Desmond Jennings has been great since his call-up…who else has been behind their resurgence?

  4. Fish – I finished reading the Clubhouse Confidential book by the former Yankee batboy. Dont buy it. The best stories were in the Post excerpt (Matsui ho’s). Not much else but fluff.

  5. Bautista has to be spending time with Aroid’s cousin. He averaged 14 homeruns his first 4 seasons. Now he’s pumping 45/50 the last 2 seasons.

Boli boli bo boli banana fana fo foli

    Grandy = MVP

Cano = all-around best hitter in AL. Future HOF
