2011 ALDS: Game 1 (Take 2) | Yankees vs. Tigers

Ivan Nova is making his first postseason start, as is his opponent, Doug Fister.

Lineup:

Derek Jeter SS
Curtis Granderson CF
Robinson Cano 2B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Mark Teixeira 1B
Nick Swisher RF
Jorge Posada DH
Russell Martin C
Brett Gardner LF

Pitchers:

Ivan Nova (0-0, 0.00) vs. Doug Fister (0-0, 0.00)

Pregame Notes:

— It is currently raining at Yankee Stadium, supposedly quite hard and steady at the moment (6:50pm). Hopefully it stops sometime soon, so they can get the game in tonight. If not, the schedule for the rest of the ALDS will be pretty darn hectic, I’m sure.

— The game will pick up right where they left off last night: 1-1, bottom of the 2nd inning, no one on, no one out, except Ivan Nova and Doug Fister are replacing C.C. Sabathia and Justin Verlander, respectively.

Enjoy the game.

  1. Posada is BY FAR the worst baserunner I have ever seen.

  2. If anyone should hit Fister, it should be Cano.

Cano hits soft stuff and breaking pitches well and is very aggressive so he should do well against a pitcher who throws a lot of strikes.

  3. That was a terrible job in the 2nd inning…2nd and 3rd and 0 outs:

    1) Gardner should be looking for a pitch to pull to move both baserunners up but swings at a pitch low and outside off the plate and hits to the only infielder (3B) playing in

    2) Posada INEXPLICABLY wanders off 3B right in front of the third baseman with the ball in his hands

    3) After a gift balk, Jeter swings at 2 terrible pitches and Ks when a groundball anywhere meant a run

    4) Granderson misses 3 nothing 90-91 MPH fastballs up and over the plate…fouls off 2 and Ks on the 3rd

    Bad Start

  4. That flyball to CF by ARod used to be over the CF fence. Age, injuries, steroids, whatever you think it is, it is clear ARod is not even close to the same player he was a few years ago.

  5. let nova finish this game. save the bullpen.

  6. Cano is so good it’s scary!

  7. Aroid is so lost without his Boli shots, if Torre was here he’d drop him to 9th in the lineup.

  8. Why is Rivera up.?

  9. Think of the stats Cano could have amassed so far in his career if Melky wasn’t taking him to brothels and porn parties his first feat years in the league.

  10. Yeah,Fish, that lifestyle probably took away 50hrs and 150 ribbys from Cano. Without a porn star on each arm even Melky had a big year last season.
