Joba Chamberlain remains ahead of schedule in his recovery from Tommy John elbow surgery.
Chamberlain began a throwing program in September and has experienced no abnormal pain or discomfort since. He’s aiming to get back to full health by mid-April of 2012.
According to SI’s Jon Heyman, the Yankees are looking for starting pitching and left-handed relievers this offseason.
A look at the open market shows a number of viable left-handed relief options, highlighted by Jeremy Affeldt ($5 million club option with $500K buyout), George Sherrill, Javier Lopez, and Hideki Okajima. Top starters include C.J. Wilson, Hiroki Kuroda, Edwin Jackson, Erik Bedard, and Mark Buehrle.
