Morning Bits: Cashman, Fielder
Good morning all. The Rangers defeated the Tigers last night and have advanced to the World Series. Tonight, St. Louis looks to win Game 6 versus the Brewers to also advance to the World Series.
Here are your morning links:
— In Bill Madden’s opinion, Brian Cashman has always been loyal to the Yankees.
— It looks as if Cashman will have a contract with the Yankees sometime next week.
— John Harper of the NY Daily News says if C.C. signs elsewhere, the Yanks may move their focus to Prince Fielder.
Have a great day everyone.

If Fielder can play RF i like it. If he can’t i don’t see that as a wise move.
If you would consider Fielder for right field then why not Montero?
never said i didn’t consider Montero for Right field. would rather have Montero as it would be the cheap option.
I hope the Yankees target Luebke first. Could they could trade for him to be a mid rotation guy with 5 years of service time left? He is the perfect choice. Would the Padres be interested in Swisher? We would have to add more but what if you could also get Joe Thatcher?
So if you got Luebke an added him to Nova and if you moved Robertson to the rotation then all you would need is to bring back Sabathia and give another youngster the final spot.
If CC left then you could target Wilson. If both those choices failed you could bid big on Darvish.
But to do this Montero needs to move to RF. You could even sign Popi to dh if the SOX pass on offering him arbitration. I hope the Yankees publicly mention interest if only to increase the Popi price for Boston.
1. There’s no way Robertson is going to the rotation. 2. Luebke has just 1 full year of MLB experience and it’s in the NL West
So what about Luebke’s lack of experience. His numbers are fantastic and will play anywhere. He is a very good left handed pitcher and the Yankees would be lucky to get him. Why not Robertson to the rotation? Texas did it with Wilson. If your reason for no on Robertson is because you think he will be Mo’s replacement I say silly. There is no reason not to try.
