Yankees aren’t expected to get Darvish or Cespedes
By Delia E.
According to sources from ESPN, the Yankees insiders are tampering down their expectations about a bid for Yu Darvish; if they even plan on making a bid.
The Yankees like Yu Darvish but they are unaware of how he would pitch in the MLB. Also since they know that Darvish has electric stuff, just to get him to throw a pitch for the Yankees could cost about $80M – $100M. ESPN uses the analogy of whether Darvish would come out like CC Sabathia or Kei Igawa.
On Cepsedes, the Yankees like him but they honestly don’t have a need for him. If bidding for Cepsedes goes to $30M, $40M, $50M then the Yankees will not be in on him. It would be too much money on a little guarantee. It’s fun to think about, but the reality is, the Yankees don’t see it happening.
