Yanks’ front office divided on Cespedes
by Mike D.
According to Danny Knobler of CBS Sports, the Yankees (along with the Red Sox) may not bid very high on the Cuban defect, Yoenis Cespedes. The belief is that the center-fielder will get as much as $40MM as a free agent. Knobler mentions that- though many scouts believe that he should spend some time in the minors, his agents want him to go straight to the major-leagues. If the Yankees signed Cespedes, chances are Nick Swisher (or possibly Brett Gardner) would be traded to make room.
Knobler additionally said that there is a divide in the Yankees’ front office regarding Cespedes. Because of this divide, the report that the Yankees will not be offering very much could change.
