Inquiring minds ask of those more knowledgeable than he. Would a Logan Morrison for Phil Hughes pretty much straight up be a possibility?
The Marlins could always use pitching and Hughes is relatively inexpensive. And as will all know Cashman would like to get a bat and a young bat with cost control for the next several years.
Not that I claim to know a lot about other teams needs but on the surface this would appear to be a win, win for both teams.
I still would prefer the Yankees move AJ first, but let’s assume that isn’t going to happen here.
I don’t think the Marlins would do that.
Marlins are actually in the market for an OF and have been heavily linked to Yoenis Cespedes. He’d be a perfect fit in CF with their huge Cuban community.
They are also pretty strong in the rotation with Nolasco, Anibal Sanchez, Buehrle, Volstad & stud Josh Johnson coming back from injury.
it’s hard to guage what Hughes’ trade value is right now. He is pretty much an enigma right now. While I and most people seem to think he’ll bounce back this year, the question is will teams take a chance trading someone good for him until he proves that he’s recovered from last season’s complete washout.
Every article I’ve read the last 2-3 days is saying that Cashman is looking to trade for a DH – not sign a Free Agent. makes it fun to look around the league to see who they can target. I know I sound like a broken record but damn, that Seth Smith would have been perfect!
