Morning Bits: Gardner, Nunez, Nova
Good Morning. Yankee pitchers were all sharp last night in 1-0 loss to Boston.
* Nice piece about Brett Gardner on MLB.com on how he needs to be more consistent. Yanks want him to bring the aggressiveness he shows on defense to the plate and the basepaths. KLong feels he coud hit around .300 with 75-80 SBs.
* Nunez was late scratch to due hand discomfort in batting practice
* Nova had his best ST start with good fastball command and some impressive change ups

If K-Long can get Gardner to hit .300 & swipe 75 bases…I would LOVE to see that.
Gardner is one of the few Yankee hitters who isn’t yet a finished product. There is more in the tank with him.
He hit close to .300 all yr in 2010 before he hurt his wrist and still finished with a .380 OBP that yr. If he could repeat the success he had in 2010 before the injury he could very well swipe 70 bases considering he stole 50 last yr with a .345 OBP.
still groogy from not that much sleep. I had to read that headline over and over to make sure i was reading it correctly.
The lineup the Yankees have now and adding those numbers from Gardner would be amazing!!!
