Pregame Notes
– Nick Swisher had stayed back at Steinbrenner Field today and will get treatment on his right groin.
– According to Bryan Hoch, Andy Pettitte seemed excited to be at Spring Training camp.
– Here is an interesting Tweet.
Next step 4 Pettitte live BP Friday. Girardi said his arm's a little ahead of schedule because of # of bullpens thrown before coming back—

Martin leading off. I love spring training.
just a thought…..if this becomes a nagging injury all year for Swisher that really won’t help his chances in free agency.
Looking for Hughes to continue his improved play this afternoon. Although it’s probably going to be tough to keep up the pace he’s done so far. Would like to see continued improvement in his FB even just by a little bit, keep his walks down as well as his HR’s. Would also love to see him go 5 innings.
I’d agree with you. Def would love to see him go 5 to work on his stuff.
After today probably just 2 more ST starts for most of the starters. May be 3rd start for a couple of them. But then the real games begin. It will be about time.
The Tweet I just added to Delia’s post here is interesting because Pettitte might be back sooner then first thought.
I still don’t think you will see him before May.
Is it just me or does Maxwell look pretty damn good this ST?
Maxwell looks Good. Like to see him on the bench. GoodThoughts, Frank B.
uyf and frank b, Maxwell is looking good he would make most teams, I just think the Yanks like to go with veterans. They don’t want to develope players in the majors. I think his best chance to stick is as a starter if Swisher is out. The Yanks could rotate him with Jones.
Without going into each and every name. I’ve really been impressed by several of the young guys on the Yankees in the minors. I think the next year or 2 or certainly 3 we are going to see a changing of the guard with the Yankees. And in a very positive way.
uyf, I would try to fast track both Almonte and Williams, they could be platoon players for a few years until one becomes a star player.
Just when you think Rapada has the inside track on the last spot on the roster. Cabral pitches a game like he did today (2 innings, 6K’s, 1 walk and no ER’s).
The Yankee pitching is looking good. Cabrel really helped himself today, and Rapada looks like Choate, they could be the leftys in the pen. I would bring both Phelps and either Rapada or Cabrel up and trade Garcia.
Now that’s a stat line we have been waiting for from him.
