Morning Bits: Robertson, Chamberlain, Pettitte
Good morning everyone and happy Saturday! Yankees play the Tigers today but unfortunately there’s no coverage of the game, so we’d have to wait to see the boys in pinstripes tomorrow. Let’s get right to the morning links:
– David Robertson threw a simulated inning yesterday. He is slated to be in a Grapefruit League game early next week.
– There’s a very good chance that Yankees fans won’t see Joba Chamberlain in 2012.
– Not only is Andy Pettitte back from the Yankees but he is also scheduled to testify in the trial of former teammate Roger Clemens.

Good to see Robertson is on his way back.
For those of you that have no concept of the injury to Joba and how bad it is for any athlete, let me tell you.
I had (I know here he goes agin) about the same thing happen to me about 10-15 years ago in a place in South Africa. It toke me almost 2 years to get back in the field again, if we hadn’t had a medic (Doctor) with us, I could have lost the leg! The bad thing is, when they reattached the foot…I now have one foot pidgin toed and one slue footed a bit. ..if you live long enough, one can go through life saying …Been there, done that, way to many times. lol
His injury is not just a broken leg folks, it may really be over for him as a pitcher but, if he has the true desire to get back…I say, why not go for it Joba, it can be done!
Every time you start feeling sorry for your self, just remember some of those Vets you visited in the Vet hospital…You are much better off then 99% of them…we, I will pray for you as I do every nite for others I have worked with over the years.
The worst thing that’s happened in my 34+ years is a broken kneecap, and that was bad enough for me (mainly the fact it kept me from doing some of the things I love, not so much the injury itself). So my condolences on that injury. I’m sure you’ve forgotten about most of that, among many other things, anyway. LOL
I guess the injury isn’t as bad as it could have been, as Joba is being released from the hospital today. I don’t believe we’ll see him again this year, but it’s great to hear that this may not be career ending.
GP…
That had to smart a bit.
The litany of injuries I have had were from “being in the wrong place at the wrong time”.
I must say, the medical help is much much better to-day then when I hurt my shoulder back in the 50′s. Just think, a few years ago there was no TJ surgery, of course, the pitcher’s mound was higher too.
I am glad to hear Joba’s injury wasn’t as bad as first posted…this is great!
I’ll forever be in debt to my athletic trainer and physical therapist, as they did an amazing job getting me ready for basketball season (I’m a referee). By the time they were done with me I was in better shape than I’d been in years.
