Morning Bits: Cashman, Pineda, Garcia
Good morning everyone! Today’s Yankees vs. Astros game is at 1pm today on Astros radio, so make sure that you tune in to watch! Here are the morning links!
– With the injuries of Michael Pineda & Cesar Cabral, Brian Cashman called it a “real bad day for us.”
– After Michael Pineda’s injuries, he may be losing his grip on a rotation job.
– Freddy Garcia pitched 6 2/3 innings in the minor league complex yesterday…and he’s not giving up a rotation spot without a fight.

I still cant’ get over the Pineda downfall. “probably a bad choice of words” but many of you called it with him showing up over weight to start off his career with the Yankees.
Matt, downfall? How many players this winter/spring training across the 30 teams have had players that have suffered injuries? A lot. Did his pre season conditioning or lack thereof contribute possibly may be even probably. But it’s just as possible he over did it in an effort to impress his new bosses and teammates.
Let’s all hope that it’s just something minor that will require some rest and rehabbing and take it from there.
I think i wrote “bad choice of words” after it. Just couldn’t think of a better way of saying it. It’s just the Yankees had high hopes with him and now something completely different is happening that’s all.
A friend just turned my on to this:
Saturday, March 31
03/31/12 – 8:18AM ETMichael Pineda : (Shoulder) Lands On DL
Pineda has been placed on the 15-day DL with right shoulder inflammation, Marc Carig of the Newark Star Ledger reports.
Sounds like the best possible news considering.
check the lineup article UYF Delia had the news listed in it.
Thanks, I see it. Here is another Tweet

Pineda has tendinitis in shoulder, so Yankees are thrilled not more serious.
