Justin MaxwellIt wouldn’t of mattered how well Justin Maxwell did this Spring. In the end, the Yankees designated him for assignment. Even if Justin Maxwell cleared waivers, he said that he could elect for free agency rather than go straight to Triple-A. This could be the end of Maxwell’s run in pinstripes.

Bill HallBill Hall didn’t technically have an out in his contract, but he asked for one when he found out he didn’t make the 25 man roster. Hall will still like to play for a Major League team, but unfortunately, it’s not with the Yankees.

  1. Guys for what it’s worth. According to my best figures for the 25 man roster Delia listed above the Yankees opening day payroll will be $190MM +/-.

Their payroll for MLB Luxury Tax purposes for the 2012 season as of this moment is: $212MM +/- (all inclusive benefits, incentives, etc..) Which would put their Luxury Tax at about $14.3MM

Just thought you would all like to know.
