Austin, Williams and Bichette Jr could all get promotions this year. They are tearing it up.
I love Austn and that Charleston team is stacked. That’s the second time this year they beat up on a re-habbing Tim Hudson for the Braves.
On a down note, what is going on with Banuelos? Looks like he can’t throw a strike!
It is troublesome him and Betances are off to a slow start.

Please correct me if I am wrong but, haven’t those two guys been slow starters every year?
I also was thinking of something I have heard for a few years but never tagged it to anyone, maybe in this case it fits; “some guys play to the competition” or “they are board with most of the players they pitch to.’ In other words….they are too big for their own pants!????
They said that about Montero in AAA last year and it made a lot of sense because he clearly was ready to hit in the Majors. But Betances and Banuelos still have work to do. Betances could pitch in relief for a lot of teams right now but has more to prove command/control-wise to start in the Majors.
Banuelos is still very young so I don’t think he’s bored yet. His control was the #1 issue he had to work on this year which is why its so disappointing to see the high walk totals. But like you said, it’s sooooo early. They have time to turn it around.

ManBam is 20(?), there is no rush for him to come up and be plugged into the line-up. That is why you, I (I think) and a few fans wanted him at AA or AAA for the season, sounds like a better way to learn his job and come up ready to go.
Thanks Ken…….I def want Banuelos to pitch the whole yr in the minors. The Yanks have 10 other legit starting pitchers that are MLB-ready this yr. Manny is just 21 and still has things to work on at AAA. IHe’s struggling right now, which could be a good thing (if he is not injured!). It will show him that he has to get better and will give us the opportunity to see if he can make adjustments and come back strong.
Well, i see in Matt’s minor-lg recap that Banuelos IS hurt. On the DL with back injury.
Right now the killer B’s look to be down the list as far as making the Yanks, too much hype with these young players. Look for Mitchell and Warren to be one of the next pitchers moved to the majors.
I agree with you Doug. I see Phelps being a starter next year if they don’t resign Kuroda or Pettitte.
Sometimes a pitcher has to find his way, they don’t automatically do well at each level. Banuelos is still young and his lack of control will hurt him at the higher levels where hitters are more selective
Good point Doug. It can take pitchers time to adjust to new levels.The better competition and what not. The jump from AA to AAA can be big. AA is filled with talented prospects while AAA has a mixture of MLB veterans and young players on the verge of the Majors. Hitters are much more patient and better at reading offspeed pitches. Although Manny had 7 starts in AAA last yr he’s just settling in and this is only the 2nd yr in his life he’s ever pitched in a cold Northeast April. His 2 starts have been in Syracuse and Buffalo. That can be a challenge for young Latin players
