Looks like Stewart is C.C.’s permanent catcher.
Would be nice for the bats to come alive and give C.C. an early lead. Hopefully they can win the series.
Nick Swisher left the game with a tight left hamstring.
Today is one of those games where you feel like you should be up by 4 or 5 runs but the score is 3-2. Scherzer was on the ropes a lot but got out of a lot of jams.
So far through 6 innings the Yanks have had 18 BASERUNNERS (19 hits & 8 Walks( and only 3 runs!
Thankfully CC has pitched well but these games scare you.
Good call by the home plate ump on Chris Stewart’s slide into home. The ball had beat him but the replay showed Stewart definitely got in under the tag. Most of the time umps will call him out there. that was big because if he’s out there the Yanks come up with nothing and it remains 3-2 instead of 5-2.
Good outing buy C.C. is right. Hopefully the injury to Swisher isn’t that serious.
CC is the most indispensible player on the team. He continues to go 7+ innings every start which is huge a day after the pen went 7.2 IP yesterday and no off days this week. Looks like Phelps will go Thursday.
I couldn’t agree more Fish. CC was the prize in the crackerjack box that was the offseason after 2008. AJ had big moments but is gone, Teixeira’s obp and average are plunging(.229 this year after today’s 0-5, way to go big guy) but CC continues to be worth every quarter of what he’s been paid. Whether he has his best stuff or not he always gives innings and limits damage. When he has his best stuff he’s as good as anyone. With each passing year my regard for CC rises.
That’s why he is called an ace, he usually starts slow in April, he is a horse. CC’s slider was good today and he located it. He stayed away from his change which is a good pitch for him. Thursday will be a big day for Phelps. Looks like Swisher is going to miss some games with the hammy, should give Jones and Nunez some more playing time.
I love Nunez playing, I don’t care where he plays. Putting him in Right Field may be adventurous, but we all hold our breath when one is hit at Ibanez anyway!
Agreed. Give Nunez a shot in the OF. Let’s see what he can do.
Information on Swisher: Swisher has a Low Grade A Hamstring strain. The Yankees will not put him on the DL yet since Gardner is coming off the DL on Thursday. If the strain is still bothering Swisher by the Kansas City series, then Girardi could just give Gardner Swish’s spot and send Swish to the DL.
