Tyler Austin is out of his mind this year.
btw Manny Banuelos comes off the DL on Wed.
If Swisher goes on the DL I would bring up Wise, he has been playing well to start the season.
can’t go wrong with that choice. He already has MLB experience.
I wouldn’t bring anyone up for Swisher. Gardner will be back soon and Nunez can also play out there if needed. If you ended up short for a game Martin could be an emergency outfielder as well.
With Swisher out there are only 11 batters on the Active Roster, which means the bench would only be two deep. There’s no way they can do that, even for just a few days (until Gardner gets back on the 3rd). Somebody has to be called up.
Sure they can! Martin can play both third and the outfield in an emergency.
With Chavez on the bench 3B isn’t the problem. Neither is 1B or C. The problem would be one of the outfielders needing to leave the game, or one of Jeter or Cano.
But the main problem I see with calling somebody up would be the fact the Yanks would lose them when Swisher returns. Wise, Dickerson, and Cust (top OF hitters, using batting average, in AAA) are without options, and would probably be lost if called up and taken off the Active Roster. Colin Curtis starts but is only hitting .221, so calling him up would be pointless anyway, as they may as well let the pitchers hit.
If the Yankees were in dire outfield need they could just put Mo out there!
