  1. Anyone see the bare-handed play Cano made early this game? A thing of beauty! That’s a guy I’d pay to see!

Bryce Harper is fun to watch too. I was just thinking that Washington and LA should be looking to sign Bryce and Mike Trout to 10 year deals pretty soon. If not, can you imagine what it will be like in 5 and a half yrs when they both become Free Agents? Two all-around star CFs who can do it all hitting the market together at the ages of 24-25. That would be something but I expect their teams won’t let that happen.

    • fishjam, Cano has had some day with the bare-handed play and the monster homer. I had a graduation party for my daughter yesterday, and Harper and Trout were all the talk along with the Yanks. Those guys can play, Harper is 2 years younger, both have helped their teams get to where they are with their outstanding play. Just wanted to add that Nova is giving the Yanks another well pitched game.

    • Fish …. As you know TWASP has been tooting Cano’s horn for some time.

But he still amazes me with what he can do both defensively and offensively.

I believe when it’s all said and done, if he stays focused and healthy, he will go down in history as the best 4 tool second baseman in the modern era. No ghosts please.

  2. I really don’t understand some of the decisions by the 3B coach. He’s sent guys on multiple occassions this year when he shouldn’t have with Zero or 1 out and today with 2 outs he doesn’t send Andruw Jones on a flyball by Jeter to right-center.

Sure, Harper has a strong arm but he had to make a running catch going towards right field so all of his momentum was moving away from the plate. He had to take about 3-4 steps to steady himself before he could make the throw which he still made off-balance and the throw was waaay off-line. If Jones was running hard as soon as it was caught he scores standing up.

    • fishjam, I agree Jones should have been sent. Third base coaching is a important job on a team. For the Yanks is a harder job because you have some older players who are making alot of money that you don’t want to get injured. Jones was also the last outfielder with Swisher out. If the Yanks were driving players in with hits rather than fly balls, there would be less plays at the plate.

    • Fish- Rob “just for men hair dye” Thomson Is and has been the worst 3rd base coach in baseball. He has no clue when and when not to send a runner. I guess it could be worse though, he could have been an air traffic controller.

  3. hair dyes can be cancerous so be careful with it.”
