Morning Bits/Minor Notes: Cashman talking trades, RISP, Pineda, Aardsma
Good morning all. Yankees got a loss last night but doesn’t look so bad after 10 wins in a row. They did have several chances to win the game last night which did make it hard but oh well. Today is a day game starting at 1:05. Hanson vs. Hughes.
Enjoy the game and the day. Now let’s get to the links…..
– Cashman had a lot of interesting things to say in a radio interview yesterday about Soriano and the trade deadline. Johnette Howard from ESPNNY has all the details.
– Wallace Matthews of ESPNNY reports that Swisher was 2-2 with RISP while the rest of the Yankees were a dreadful 0-9.
– Hughes looks to stay hot in the rubber game match today reports Teddy Cahill of MLB.com.
– Steven Miller of MLB.com reports that Pineda visited with the Yankees and is progressing with his rehab.
– The other day Aardsma tossed a scoreless inning in his first rehab start. I said it before and I will say it again that that signing could be huge for the Yankees.
– Bob Raissman of The New York Daily News writes that Yankees broadcaster Suzyn Waldman is standing by Roger Clemens.
– Staten Island Yankees took the loss last night 4-1.
– Gulf Coast Yankees lost as well 5-4. Slade Heathcott (who you can read our interview with him from earlier this year right here) went 2-2 with 2 doubles and an RBI. I really hope he can finish strong with a healthy rest of the year.
– Tampa Yankees won 4-2. JR Murphy had 2 hits (double, 2-Run homer). Rob Segedin and Kyle Roller each had a pair of hits as well.
– Trenton won 3-2. Luke Murton had 3 hits one which was a solo homer. Mikey O’Brien went 6 strong innings only giving up one run.
– Empire State Yankees lost 4-2. Only 4 hits for the team. One of which was by Ronnier Mustelier who is batting .316.

Can’t wait till the minor league promotions start happening soon. I want to see the ones who are doing well excel at the next level.
I’m very worried about the lack of position players in our system who look like stars. I look at Texas’ system and get terrified. They have a SS whose going to be the same sort of special player as Trout and Harper, probably the “Jeter” of his generation. I suppose before Hal took over I wouldn’t have been so worried. With his pledge to cut payroll and stick to it, and Tex and Arod sucking 52.5 million a year out, we aren’t going to be able to buy players. Unless Hank can stage a comeback, lol, we need to start developing players NOW.
