ugh I hope the Yankees aren’t series about Dempster. Go with what you have.
Dempster has been having an awesome season this year leading the Major Leagues in ERA. However, looking at his peripherals and his 3.72 xFip, he’s due to come back to Earth. His xFip is the same as it’s been the last 3 yrs and he never had an ERA better than 3.65 so this year’s 1.86 ERA is due to rise.
His stuff is the same and his Fastball is actually down a tick from last yr. He’s heavily reliant on his Slider which he throws 40% of the time. He seems like a similar pitcher to Kuroda which isn’t a bad thing but not what the Yankees need. The Yanks need a starter who is CLEARLY better than everyone on their staff besides C.C.
