Off Day Notes
Good evening everyone. The Yankees don’t play tonight, but there is still a selection of games to watch for the American League East. The Red Sox play the Twins tonight at 7:05pm and if you are up at 10:05pm then you can catch the Blue Jays and the Athletics. Here are some notes from today.
– The Yankees announced that they had promoted OF Melky Mesa from Double A Trenton to Triple A Scranton Wilkes-Barre. From the looks of things, it seems that Mesa is trying to get a September call-up at the rate he’s going.
– The Yankees also announced late last night that they released 3 outfielders: Jack Cust, Colin Curtis and Ray Kruml which probably makes sense as to why the Yankees sent up Mesa.
– Nothing much happening in the Majors today so relatively it has been a quiet day over all. More action tomorrow when the Yankees face the Mariners.

Good for Mesa!!!! Looking to see what he can do at the next level.
Matt S. – did you know there are only 4 Yankees with more singles than Mickey Mantle?
1 Bernie Williams
2. Don Mattingly
3. Lou Gehrig
Who is the fourth?
Jete
Delia – do you know the answer to the above quiz?
I have no clue. I’m stumped.
Ken – can you help Delia out with this quiz?
Looks like Boston is gonna lose tonight that is always good news.
This is interesting from LOHUD…
Turns out the Yankees didn’t option Ramiro Pena yesterday. They designated him for assignment. Brian Cashman confirmed the move this afternoon. If no one claims him, Pena will clear waivers tomorrow and be removed from the 40-man roster.
Finally!
So…does this mean we get Eduardo Nunez in the Majors?
