  1. WOW,….. I SENT A COMMEBT ABOUT THE LINEUP, UNDER THE RECENT PITCVHING ARTICLE, IT IS STILL AWAITING MEDIATION,….. BUT MAYBE IT IS MORE APPROPIATE ON THIS THREAT….HERE IS WHAT I WROTE EARLIER TODAY….
I am upset about the lineup though. You can not just insert Granderson in the 1 hole, and expect him to handle the bat as a 1 hole hitter……… he is no Ricky Henderson (or Vince Coleman even),……. Granderson should be the cleanup hitter, in the 4 hole,…. with his power, with men on base.
    HOW ABOUT THIS LINEUP- 1 JETER, 2 SWISHER, 3 CANO, 4 GRANDERSON, 5 TEXIERA, 6 IBANEZ/JONES, 7 CHAVEZ, 8 MARTIN/stewart , 9 ICHIRO
then once in a while, put Ichiro at one, and move everyone back 1 slot.
The yankees are pacing at less than 9.00 hits per game, their worst season since like 1991/1990.
I know the pitching in MLB is great right now,…. putting Granderson in the 1 hole is not helping matters.

  2. I MEAN “THREAD”

  3. I’d rather see Granderson bat where he is today then leadoff. Jeter is leading the league in hits and deserves to bat 1st.

    • Only Girardi would have dreamed of putting a .240 hitter whose only worth is in his home runs in the leadoff spot.

      • What page of the binder do you think that was on?

        • It was in Chapter 6, page 150.

“Obsurd, Odd lineups to make fans scratch their heads.” ;)

        • Matt, I’ve been busy but you know I’m always watching. I have been screaming and yelling at this crewcut for two weeks straight. He’s hit a new low with his bizarre and incredibly idiotic.

          • I hear ya I didn’t like the move of Granderson to the top of the order from the get go. What a stupid move.

            • Tonight he bats that human out making machine Martin ahead of two guys? Martin shouldn’t be hitting ahead of anyone in organized baseball at any level. As I type this he just ended the inning, as we all knew he would. How many fastballs do you think he’ll call tonight? 92% sounds about right to me. Alas, he’s one of “Joe’s guys” and he’ll not make Stewart the starter because that would make too much sense. Disgusting.

  4. Putting Jeter back at leadoff is the right move. He’s excelled leading off games all year with a .398 average. Why mess with that?

And Granderson is in a serious slump. In the last 3 weeks, he’s hitting .197 with 33 Ks in 83 Abs! He doesn’t provide hits, doubles, triples, SBs, etc…….his value lies in his 29 HRs. So I’m glad they put him in a position where those HRs might drive in some runs.

  5. you see my point though,….. granderson isnt a 1 hole hitter, he isnt even a 2 hole hitter,….. he is 4,5,6,…. you want to make him a one hole hitter, sent him to winter ball in the dominican this winter,…. to learn how to handle a 1 hole hitters bat

    • Granderson is actually a 6 in my opinion in an ideal world. He’s a low average guy who strikes out at a comical rate and who isn’t very fast on the basepaths. I wonder what sort of medication Girardi was on when he decided to pencil him into the leadoff spot lately?

  6. Everytime I see Teixeira in the cleanup spot I want to claw my eyes out and/or sob hysterically.

  7. The Ghost of Joe Quinn

I am a better manager! How could you let Hughes pitch to Cabrera last night with 2 on an none out in the 5th?

  8. I should be on the comp during most of the games. Would love to hear all of your in game reactions as they happen here on this thread tonight.

  9. Good for Chavez. I believe in the off season he said if the yankees didn’t want him back this year he would have retired.

  10. Well, MLB.TV is on the fritz tonight and there are a lot of angry customers (including myself) venting about it on Twitter. :/

  11. Still waiting for the first non fastball pitch to be thrown.I don’t know why Martin even bothers putting a finger down at all. We all know what’s coming, as do the opposing players and coaches who study not only the opposing pitcher but the pitch calling tendency of the catcher. Why do you think our pitchers allow so many home runs? Does anyone think its a secret that Martin is a fastball addicted junkie? Our pitchers pitch better games to Stewart, he’s hitting over 60 points higher than Martin, yet Joe trots that stiff out there behind the plate most nights. I never thought I’d miss Cervelli.

    • Doug – like you suggested, TWASP has researched your Amphetamines in baseball claims.

      1. Many baseball execs believe the decline in offense is a direct result of the banning of amphetamines.
      2. Amphetamines were handed out to ballplayers regularly, and they were referred to as greenies.
      3. It is estimated that a majority of players took greenies.
      4. There are medical studies that show that greenies increase your reaction time which would aid in hitting a pitch.
      5. Many people believe greenies enhanced players performance.
      6. Teammates of Mickey Mantle said he used greenies to get over hangovers.

Since greenies enhanced performance and Mickey Mantle took greenies shouldn’t the obvious deduction be that Mickey Mantle took performance enhancing drugs(PEDS). ?

  12. C.C. needs to give the Pen a blow tonight. He did last time out and needs to again. many games in a row without a break and with Nova shakey C.C. is needed for at least 7+ tonight.

  13. I could watch Cano make that play all day. So smooth.

  14. and that’s why you bat Granderson down in the order!

  15. Figures they would break their slump against an NL guy. What a dumb trade by the Tigers trading their best prospect for a guy who was only average in the NL.

  16. David Robertson didn’t look very sharp in the 8th. He would have made it out of the 7th without a run if it wasn’t for Teixeira’s misplay on the groundball.
