Morning Bits: Jeter all time hits chase, Kuroda, A-Rod, Pettitte
Yankees won another series last night as Ichiro had a great game. The Yankees begin a series with the White Sox tonight at 8:10PM EST. On the mound will be Garcia vs Floyd. This should be a great series as both teams are in first and have teams that are hot (Tigers, Rays, and O’s) right behind them.
Enjoy the day. Now for some links…
– Andrew Marchand of ESPN NY writes that Jeter will catch Willie Mays this year on the all time career hit list.
– Ian Begley of ESPN NY writes that Kuroda was in control last night for the Yanks.
– Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports that X-rays show A-Rod and Pettitte to be on track.

MARCHLAND IN THE ARTLICE ON JETER CATCHING MAYS SOON, WROTE THAT JETER NEEDS ONLY 21 HITS TO CATCH MAYS.
MARCHLAND IS A PAID PROFESSIONAL WRITER WITH COPYWRITE EDITOIRS AT ESPN.
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW MARCHLAND USUALLY GETS NUMBERS WRONG.
JETER NEEDS 32 HITS TO TIE MAYS.
I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY SO MANY CLEARLY INCOMPETENT PEOPLE HAVE JOBS IN EVERY INDUSTRY , TYPE OF WORK, AND WALK OF LIFE,……. AND I CANT GET A JOB.
Was waiting for a reader to catch that. If you read as well he calls Andrew McCutch “Daniel”
i KNOW WHAT ANDREW DID.
At the moment of the article, Jeter had 162 hits, 21 hits away from 183. What Andrew did was write so fast to publish the article,… with Mays sitting at 3283 hits,…. he subtracted 62 from 83, and came up with 21.
It is none of my business why the copy editors did not catch it as ESPN.
I just an so into Jeter and hits, I expect the numbers to be right.
My fandom goes like this,…. everytime Jeter gets a hit, it is like larry bird hitting a 3, or making an impossible assist, or Favre connecting on a long pass, or Marino takinbg his team down the field on a drive,… or looking at Box svcores in the news paper in the 80′s to see what Tony Gwynn did,….. that is my fandom.
Right now I have Jeter.
no, i am not even right,….. cause jeter was at 160, then had 7 hiots over the last 2 games,….but this whole thing goes to my point,..
It is very easy for writters to confuse people on numbers if the numbers are not right.
