  1. i think teix and granderson should be revsersed in the order against a righty,….. just an opinion.
THE SHIFT IS IN THEIR MINDS.

GOT TO GIVE GRANDERSON THE CLEAN UP SPOT,.. GET HIM GOING NOW, AGAINST RIGHTYS FOR THE PLAYOFFS,….

IT ISNT A BIG DEAL I GUESS 4/5 5/4,…. WE WILL SEE

    I HOPE JETER DOESNT HAVE A HEADACHE,…..

  2. Great move for the Red Sox obviously…as the part of the team core had to be disbanded and they found a team to pick up the tab.

LA still may make this a win for everyone. National league is AAAA league. The creepy smirked Beckett may rebound like surly Blackeye Burnett….I wouldn’t be surprised. Same as Crawford.

And Gonzalez is a star anywhere.

  3. Definitely a good move for both sides. I’m still stunned at how much money was moved in one trade, and how an injured Crawford is able to be traded, but nonetheless it’s a genius trade.

I’m not sure though where the Red Sox go from here. Do they immediately use the freed cap space on a couple big name free-agents, or do they wait and go into rebuilding mode? They could do both and find success in both areas, in my opinion.

But good for A-Gone and Punto, as they’ll be thrown right back into a pennant race. I didn’t say Crawford because he’s done for the year, and Beckett because, well, he’s Beckett. He doesn’t deserve s**t. Hahaha….

  4. I think the Red Sox are under the same pressure to WIN NOW each season. Let’s hope they don’t get Hamilton. Josh in Fenway…….ouch!

  5. Another game with no run support for Kuroda.

  6. I like that he’s shown that he might be a 2 for the playoffs.

    • JETER WENT 2-5 WITH A RUN SCORED,… JETER’S HITS AND RUNS KEEP COMING AT A RAPID CLIP

AT THIS MOMENT TROUT IS 0-4, DOWN TO 338, HERE WE GO,…. MEGEUL CABRERA 0-4 DOWN TO 324

JETER MOVES INTO 2ND PLACE FOR THE BATTING TITLE AT 326,…. NOW ONLY 12 POINTS SEPERATE JETER AND TROUT, WITH 36 GAMES TO PLAY

      LOOK OUT

JETER GOT THE BATTING TITLE IN SIGHT

  7. Good stats Jim…..does Jeter have avshot at MVp if he wins BA title?

  8. No one had Jeter gettin 200 hits this season so what he is doing is still amazing to me. I do not think he deserves nor will win the MVP.

    • There were some of us that said he would hit over .300 this season. that will be fun to look back at the Over/Unders we did back in Spring training.

    • The Ghost of Joe Quinn

Wondering what the Jeter did last off season to hit so well this year at night? The only reason he is hitting above .300 is his increased production at night. Is there a steroid for VISION? lol.

  9. Matt – there a 2 trains of thought on the MVP

    1. The player who had the best season should win regardless of how successful hie team was.

If you believe this way then clearly Trout, Cabrera Hamilton and even Robby have had better seasons,

    2. The player who most contributes to his team’s winning.

If your team didn’t win then you couldn’t have been that valuable, because they could have lost without you.

The only interpretation where Jeter logically can be in the conversation is if you believe in 2 above and

A – the Yankees run away with it
B – Jeter stays HOT and surpasses cabrera and trout in BA , or their teams don’t win
    C- Jeter outplays Cano

Then maybe enough writers will like the story…….but it’s a longshot.

    • The Ghost of Joe Quinn

Jeter does not deserve the MVP because he sucks defensively.

      • If Jeter “sucks” defensively then he wouldn’t get the Golden Glove. I don’t remember being a defensive player being involved in the MVP award.

        • The Ghost of Joe Quinn

Stop with the stupid Gold Glove BS! It is meaningless…Jeter is a horrid defender at short without any range. If you pay attention a couple of weeks back info came out that the Yankees didn’t sign Lowe an instead signed Burnett because of worry about defense. That worry was Jeter.

          • That’s real interesting Ghost..you still have the source/article?

            • The Ghost of Joe Quinn

It was reported around the time Derek Lowe was added to the roster. I have no link as it was a couple or three weeks back.

All you have to do it look at what the moronic Yankees talking heads have done to Nova this year to believe it’s true. They pushed him to K’s instead of enjoying his success as a ground ball pitcher.

I still call for all this stinking Yankees management to go! Hal and your family go too please!

              • Yeah Ghost…….hairspray Hal and hapless Hank have to go….along with CashMan and Girardi. For a team with twice the payroll and resources to have one only ONE championship in the last 11 years is pathetic.

      • Jeter is below average defensively this year. Besides losing range to his right…his usual sure hands have failed him and a few times it wasnt scored as errors.

I think the writers are so stupid they dont care about Jeter’s UZR (-18). And they’ll just look to see if he had a BA higher than Trout/Cabrera.and did the Yankees win. If so he may get some votes from the writers who think theMVP should come from a winner (if the Yankeeswin).

        • The Ghost of Joe Quinn

You likely don’t have to worry about this team winning. I still expect them the fail and falter under the pathetic managing of Neanderthal Joe an miss the post season or get beat in WC game.

  10. You may be right. I could easily see Joe getting outmanaged in a WC game. Why did he bring Soriano in the 8th tonight …..when Drob was dealing?

  11. Interesting stat that backs up my idea that strikeouts are not the worst thing in the world and becoming very accepted. Strikeouts across baseball this year are at an all time high of 7.43 per nine innings.

  12. Matt B. In the old days there was a stigma to strikeouts and embarrassment. But nowadays most sabermatricians agree that there is not much difference between strikeouts and other unproductive outs.
