Yankees Off-Day Notes: Gardner, A-Rod, Aardsma, WCBS

Since the Yankees aren’t playing tonight, let’s get to some off-day notes, shall we?

– Brian Cashman made it perfectly clear that Brett Gardner is not a pinch-running candidate for a September call-up. Sorry Gardner fans. That means we have to wait until February before we see our favorite left fielder back on the base-paths.

– Alex Rodriguez might be back in the Yankees lineup on Monday vs. the Tampa Bay Rays but Cashman isn’t promising anything. He will begin an assignment with Class-A Tampa. David Aardsma will join him and he might also be a September call-up.

– And if you didn’t hear the news today, WCBS 880 renewed it’s contract with the Yankees for another year! Along with the radio signing a deal with the Yankees, John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman will be behind the microphone next season.
