i might not be on for a while
Jeter is on pace for 221 hits, 103 runs, 61 rbi,…
16 games left, 1 game up in first place
jeter needs 13 hits to reach 3300, and 21 hits to reach 220 on the season
in the remaining 16 games if jeter has 2 days off, and 2 hitless games, has 6- 2 hit games, and 6 1 hit games, for 18 hits, that will give him 217 hits on the season, and 3305 for career
jeter would then only need 195 hits next season to reach 3500,…..
rose had 3557 hits through 18 seasons,, jeter would only be 57 behind in pace by season
the following season rose got 140 hits, and was at 3697,…
so jeter would then need 197 hits in 2014 to tie rose in hit through 19 seasons
lol, ….. sorry,, but i still think it will happen
if jeter can get tied with rose through 2014,… then we are talking serious about 4257 i think
the next 16 games and 2 seasons will tell the tale
jeter would then need to average 140 hits a season for 4 more seasons, 2015,16,17,18 – for a total of 23 seasons
whereas Rose played 5 more seasons averaging 111.8 hits per season 1982.83.84.85.86 – for a total of 24 seasons
jeter s still right now ahead of rose in hits per plate appearances, hits per games played, and hits by exact age ( years and days). – at those respective moments in time for Rose
Jeter now has a 12 game hitting streak,,, 22 for 55, 400 avg, with with 9 runs and 9 rbis over that span
yankees are 7-5 over those games
he is averaging just under 2 hits a game over the 12 games
with 16 games to go,….if jeter plays in all 16 games and gets a hit in each,…. that will be a 28 game hitting styreak to end the season, halh way to 56 record
my question is,.,… does the streak officially continue start of next season, to try to go for the 56 game unbreakable record?
that would be cool if it did,.. cause by then, everyone would have forgotten about it
Jim….I believe jolting Joe DiMaggio’s record will not be broken if someone does it across 2 seasons.
must read.
