  1. King Felix is on the mound tonight for the Mariners against the O’s so that’s a good thing.

  2. Big break for Yanks that Yunel got suspended for writing “Maricon” on his eye black and that Encarnacion was scratched. Added to the Bautista injury and that’s 3 big RH bats not in the lineup.

  3. I’ve so had it with this overmanaging fool. Even the Girardi defenders have to be hiding under rocks after this season, the man has shown himself to be everything his bashers ever said he was, and more. He has absolutely no “feel” for managing, it is all out of some stat book or a previously determined plan that he refuses to deviate from.
Now he’s going to ask Soriano for a 4 out save. LOL!!
You know who they have available for tonight’s game now?
    Phelps
    Freddy
    Eppley
    Warren
    Thomas

Great job Joe, win or lose you really screwed this up, yet again.

    • You take one game at a time at this point, Girardi made the right moves.

      • Agreed Doug.

Love the fact that they were able to cash in 2 runs in the 1st with productive outs. 2nd & 3rd no outs and ARod hits a weak grounder to first base. It was just what we needed as it scored Swisher and moved Cano to 3rd with 1 out. Granderson then brought Cano home with a fly ball to CF. 2 RBI’s without a hit…..love it. Little things like that win games and too often they have failed in those situations this season.

  4. Phelps is gonna have to give 6 innings tonight.

    • Matt, can you believe it? I mean, this guy is supposed to be a manager of the YANKEES!! He knew there was a doubleheader tonight!!! What in the hell was he thinking??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      He’s basically conceded tonight’s game.

    • Freddy Garcia could be the man tonight just as well as Phelps, at this point it;s all hands on deck.

  5. Yankees are now 3 games back of Texas.

Texas has 5 games with the Angels

    3 with Seattle

    and 7 with Oakland

anyone think we have chance to take over the AL best record?

  6. So let Robertson blow the game there? He was getting drilled. This would have been a brutal game to loose and you have to worry about getting this one before anything. Blame Robertson for being awful for this. No matter what he does he will never win with the second guessers.

    • Matt did you watch this game?!!! I wasn’t talking about Robertson!! I’m talking about letting Rapada face one guy, pulling Joba before he could finish the inning off two straight outs, and even pitching Drob in this game!!! You can’t do that overmanaging mixing and matching with a DOUBLEHEADER TO PLAY!!
The second guessers are right, and have been since this crewcutted imbecile put his feet up on the managers desk in 2008.
I’m thrilled about the Phelps/Warren/Freddy/Eppley show that awaits us tonight!! WHo wouldn’t be?
      WE NEED THESE DAMN GAMES!!!

  7. I followed along on twitse but u said Soriano a 4 out save lol which I why I brought it up because that was the right move to make there. The other stuff u have a point on for sure

    • *twitter lol.

      • Matt bringing Soriano was a necessity at that time, but only because Girardi used:
Rapada, Lowe, Logan, and Joba to get a grand total of 6 outs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damnit!! Those 4 guys only gave 2 hits and no walks and allowed no runs!! Are you trying to tell me he couldn’t have attempted to get those 6 outs with say, 2 pitchers?!!!
There is another game at 7 PM tonight that is just as important as this one was!! And since we just had to have Pettitte pitch today and keep him on schedule(sigh), Hughes has been pushed off until tomorrow on too much rest(he has had big troubles on extra rest with his command since he was a rookie) and now we have to start Phelps.
Sorry, this was all handled inappropiately in my opinion. I don’t give a damn about everyone’s Pettitte obession, my obsession is with winning the AL East and avoiding the one game wildcard round. I wish Girardi was just as worried, butg apparently he isn’t. I say that because I’m about to watch Phelps/Freddy/Warren and Justin Thomas take on the Blue Jays.

        • It was necessary because Robertson sucked. I agree that he should not have used that many pitchers but are you really going to trust any of those 4 in the spot soriano came in? I for sure wouldn’t

          • Girardi made the right moves, this is what you want, Robby just had a bad day. 3-0 lead in the 8th the Yanks go to Robby then Soriano case closed.

        • Obsession with Andy? Amazing he pitches 5 shutout innings and you can complain about him.

        • Michael – You are right that Girardi used too many pitchers in the 6th thru 8th innings. Classic Girardi right there. However, since none of them pitched more than an inning they will all still be available for tonights game. Robertson has not pitched well since his injury. I didn’t see today but in general, his velocity isn’t overpowering and his Curveball is not utilized enough.

But I disagree about Pettitte. Just a few days ago, NO ONE was counting on Nova for the post-season rotation so Andy was definitely needed. If he can build his pitch count and gain his command, he’s a valuable weapon in the post-season. It’s a cliche but so true, you never have enough pitching. As he showed early this year and again today, he has enough smarts, guile & experience to at a minimum keep his team in the game for 6 innings. Today he threw 5 shutout innings on a 75-pitch limit after 2 months on the shelf. You cannot discount his value and scratch the plan to bring him back because Nova had 1 good start.

And if Andy didn’t pitch today your choiuces were Freddy Garcia…..no way? I’ll take Andy on his death bed over Freddy. The other choice was Hughes and Phelps today, but you’d still have to pitch Freddy and on Sunday vs Oakland or pitch Hughes and the rest of the staff on short rest. The entire staff would have to pitch on short rest next week if you don’t pitch Andy or Freddy. There are no more days off so today’s DH forced Joe’s hand.

His original plan was to start Andy with Phelps backing him up but the DH negated that. For once Joe made the right call on who to start.

          • What really has hurt the Yanks this year is the injuries, the Yanks should have had Pineda and Banuelos up with the team to add pitching depth.
