  7. delia e,.. you know about the yankees,.. can you answer my question?, was casely close, jeters agent, once played for thr 76′ers on a 10 day contract with julious erving?

    yes or now,

  8. now i am asking 2 yankees experts

    • Jim2244…..good afternoon. I do know, that Neil Young is not his agent. Someone said that you give the pledge of allegiance to Derek Jeter? I thought I was the only one that did that. There are more of us than I thought. Take care.

  9. i may have never got in a game,….. but hisd brother jim told me in college in the mid 80′s,.. that his brother wsas going to write a book– my 10 days with julious erving,… and also become a sports agent,.. that he was already in a sports agent firm

  10. The always charming…Delia. Thank you for posting tonight’s line-up. Take care.

  11. i guess what i want to know, and it probably isnt even true, but i dont know either way,.. was my aquaintanjce / hs / college friend, jim close, the brother of casey close

  12. lol,. it doesnt mean anything, .. it wsouyld be interesting to know if it is true though,…i wonder what jim close is doing now,

back in t5he early 90′s, i bumped into him in point pleasant, he was working at martels tiki bar, and a waiter

  13. he was still trying to get int college basket ball, he had yearsof eligibility lefy,.. and was a dead on 3 poiint shooter, and really tall

  14. if it is true,m then qall that needs to happen is someon e tell casey i am memtioning his brother jim,.. and then he can put 2 ands 2 together, and know who i am

  15. JIM CLOSE USED TO COME UP THE WINNFIELD-JUNIPER PARK HERE AT NIGHT, UNER THE LIGHTS,… AND PUT ON A SHOOTING EXHIBITION FOR THE TEEN AGE CROWD,… HE WAS IN HS TOO AT THE TIME

    I THOUGH HE COULD SHOOT,….

WHEN I MET HIM IN COLLEGE AGAIN AND HE TOLD ME HIS BROITHER HAD JUST P[LAYED ON THE 76′ERS , I AND HE TRYING OUT FOR THE COLLEGE TEAM,…. I WAS IMPRESSED

WHEN I SAW HIM IN THE EARLY 90′S AND HE TOLD ME HIS BROTHER WAS A SPORTS AGENT,.. WHEN HE WAS A WAITER AT MATELS TIKI BAR OR JENKINSONS, IN POINT PLEASANT,../… I DIDNT THINK THINKANYTHING

BUT NOW THAT I KNOW CASEY CLOSE IS JETERS AGENT,.. NOW IT IS ALL COMING TOGETHER IN MY MIND

    Any time, boys.

  18. Isn’t it wonderful watching the shitty Martin catch! I can’t wait until that bum is gone for good. His chemistry with Nova is non existent.

    • Good evening…cowgirls. As I see it, Hankies, and Twasp…….Martin is not the problem. He does throw the ball over the middle of the plate…… Nova does….28 hrs. this year….. And leads the majors in extra base hits…… Nova….almost lost his job here, this year. Pin the fault on Nova. Luckily, we have perhaps the best manager in baseball, Girardi! Sometimes he does not look so good, but he sure beats Mattingly……..and patrick can not talk baseball…LOL!

  19. Ghost of Hankies : exactly , Nova and Martin never seem to be on the same page. Why doesnt Girardi see this?

    • Because Girardi is just another name for incompetence. He is not and never was and never will be a good manager. He is an engineer by training so his ability to think on his feet just isn’t there.

      • Free Hankies……………I do not understand your last sentence? “He is an engineer by training so his ability to think on his feet just isn’t there.”……..should we therefore recruit our future managers from Jiffy-Lube?

      • Yeah, his ability to adapt when things change and improvisation is needed, is just not there. How do we lose to Toronto?

  20. Arod looks terrible. He is now 22 for 88 since the DL. .250. We are going to need more from him to make playoffs.

  21. ive never heard this songt in my life,…. and it mentions campinella several times,… and seaver,…. this is vool as hell

    • tis is just a dig to all those that refuse to accept it,…… gil hodges should be in the hal,.l of fuckin fame

      • Why Jim2244? Because he ended one of the best up and coming stars in baseball, with a liner off Hurb Scores EYE and left him almost blind in that eye?
No, really, I would like to know why he should be in the HOF?

        • well,..many msany reasons,……… how about during his career he was once the all time right handed home run hitter

how about that the dodgers,……. were the brooklyn dodgers,.. and how much that meant to most of the population,…

that is now spread out in the us]’
everyone comes from brooklyn,….. if yu will

and gil hiodges is a legindary player

          • Gilbert Ray Hodges (April 4, 1924 – April 2, 1972) was an American Major League Baseball first baseman and manager. During an 18-year baseball career, he played in 1943 and from 1947–63, spending most of his career with the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. He was the major leagues’ outstanding first baseman in the 1950s, with teammate Duke Snider being the only player to have more home runs or runs batted in during the decade. For a time, his 370 career home runs were a National League (NL) record for right-handed hitters, and briefly ranked tenth in major league history; he held the NL record for career grand slams from 1957 to 1974. He anchored the infield on six pennant winners, and remains one of the most beloved and admired players in team history. [1] A sterling defensive player, he won the first three Gold Glove Awards and led the NL in double plays four times and in putouts, assists and fielding percentage three times each. He ranked second in NL history with 1,281 assists and 1,614 double plays when his career ended, and was also among the league’s career leaders in games (6th, 1,908) and total chances (10th, 16,751) at first base. He managed the New York Mets to the 1969 World Series title, one of the greatest upsets in Series history.

          • Jim2244…
What does “He once was” have to do with being in the HoF? I was once 5’9″ and 172# was that great…heck no!
Because one was a nice guy has nothing (supposedly) to do with being (or not) in the HoF. What if any achievements had he done in his career. I remember him very well, he was one of the better guys on the team back a few years ago.
A very good and respected player but, not a HoF player.

Before I get it from some others, let me set the record right, Herb Score was not hit by Hodges.

  22. It has begun to look like we are going to have problems with a few of our players that we need to do very well but, ain’t gitun its dun aatall!
    A-Rod good glove no bat.
Jeter, is he in a slump, the way he has been hitting, even a one game slump is too much?
Tex, when is coming back? Will he be of any help?
Cano is looking more and more like he has reached the embarking point for 2nd basemen.
Swisher can’t handle the good breaking ball pitchers at all.
Granderson, will hit if one of the pitchers ever makes a mistake, maybe.
Itchy, may have a very solid playoffs and WS games.
Martin has a chance to make his job, much easier.
    Jones just replace him.

    • Jeez, one off game and Oldjeterhater07 is asking if Jeter is in a slump? Priceless jealousy .

    • Maybe if some didn’t have a reading comprehension problem, they wouldn’t look so stupid. Maybe one should try asking, if one thinks it is a slur against their buddy.
If you have nothing to add pro or con just your twisted idea of everything I write is somehow bad for Jeter…don’t bother to reply!
Try reading it again, I commented on everyone! Come to think on it, don’t read it!

      • Ken – since when have you become so sensitive – just because Jeter goes 1 for 7 , does not mean he is in a slump. And no Yankee fan would suggest he was. Why do you?

If you are going to promote hate towards me and Jeter go to BFU.com. Boston Fans Unite.

        • Ok Tommy…
          For the last time;
Jeter was on a 18+/- hitting line right? He went one game without a hit right? Anyone not looking to criticize everything I write, may have seen what I was saying.
Example; I hit one HR each in six games, then I go one game without one, it is a slump. It is called satire,
          you know;
The use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity.

I ask you again don’t bother me with your childish games. If (That is a joke) you don’t like or approve of what I write don’t read or comment on my many Hate comments, of which there have been none for a while except those you think are so. Which I guess makes you the Judge of free speech (comments),
          typical lefty!

  23. the opnly player to have more home runs and more rbis than gil hodges in the decade pof the 1950′s was hs teamate duke snyder

and hids other teamate roy campuinela wopn 3 mvps in the 50′s

\GIL HODGES IS ONE OF THE MOST BELOVBED PLAYERS IN MLB HISTORY

    • Jimmy 2244…
Gil was a very good player I saw him play for many years but, if one were to make it into the HoF for being the “most beloved players in Dodger history” not MLB History. Why would anyone ever vote for Ty Cobb?
You were a big time Dodger fan so that makes a big difference.
Hay, being a big time fan of any team is a great big deal, no one wants you or anyone else to quit being a fan. True fans are hard to find!

      • I vote Bernie before Gil for the Hall!

        • Bernie was a very good athlete that happened to play baseball. He was one of the core guys. He had been one of the better players even without the Instincts it takes to be in the upper class of players.
Whereas (from 1990-2011) He was only the top player on the team 1 time, A-Rod has4 and Jeter has 3 with one more coming after this year…maybe.

          • Bernie had 8 outstanding seasons with the Yankees, 1995-2002. With ops+ over 120 each season. He was also a golden glover who led the league in batting. Plus 4 championships.

He has close to 2500 hits and 300 hrs.

            Isn’t that enough?

  24. GIL HODGES NOT BEING IN THE HALL OF FAME IS A TRAVESTY, EVERYONE VTHAT EVER HAS ROOTS IN BROOKLYN WILL TALK ABOUT FOREVER

  25. Brendan Quartararo

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!! Ivan Nova should be the #3 SP in the playoffs!!!!! What is wrong with Patrick!!!! He is acting like I did the other day!!!!

  26. Brendan Quartararo

You should only know how many people should be in the HOF!!!! The first person who should be in in my opinion is Pete Rose EVEN THOUGH HE IS NOT ELIGIBLE!!!!!!!

  27. Brendan Quartararo

Bobby Murcer,Billy Martin,Graig Nettles to name a few should be in the HOF!!!!! When it comes to steroids I think they should see how well he did before taking them!!!! If he did bad he doesn’t go in BUT IF THEY DID WELL THEN YOU PUT THEM IN THE HALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Brendan- what opposing pitcher did Nettles have a fight with during a bench clearing brawl?

    • Brendan…
Even though Billy was one of my favorite Yankees, I must disagree. None of the three should be in the HoF!
Greig was possible the best of a few great Yankee 3rd basemen, of which Boyer was one.
Bobby, well Bobby was Bobby, he loved the Yankees and Mickey, was a good OF and hitter but nothing like HoF numbers.
Billy, now there was a guy like me, except I don’t drink nor do I have a temper. He had to fight for everything his whole life and would take on anyone at any time…even a guy named Ted Kluszewski, who played 1st base for Cin Reds back when.
Ted made two of Billy, Billy came running down the line and tripped over Teds foot as he went flying by 1st base. He was called out, but he was mad because, he thought Ted tripped him on purpose. He jumped up and ran at to Ted, yelling all the way, poor Ted was so shocked he didn’t even react…at that time he got a big break, Billy…not Ted. Out of nowhere came Mickey flying out of the dug-out, he ran over to billy and picked him up like a little kid and thus, Mickey saved Billys life. Too bad he couldn’t do it the last time he was in need…!
I am going by memory so, I may have everything wrong, it depends on who reads it.
