Morning Bits: AL East Champs, Sabathia, Jeter, A-rod, Ichiro & more…
Good morning all. What a good feeling it is that the Yankees came out with the bats alive last night and took the division and the best record in the American League. The Yankees will play October 7th (Sunday) against Baltimore or Texas winner. That game is Friday night at 8:30PM EST.
Enjoy the day now for some links…
– Ian O’Connor of ESPN mentions that these are not Jeter nor A-Rod’s Yankees anymore. How the Yankees will do in the playoffs rest on the shoulders of Robinson Cano.
– Girardi mentioned last night that Jeter’s season exceeded expectation writes Andrew Marchand.
– Wallace Matthews writes that Cashman wants to win a championship this year for his father. Matthews also looks into who the Yankees will play next.
– Steven Miller of mlb.com writes that winning the division is a well rested C.C. Sabathia.
– Kristie Ackert of The Daily news mentions that Ichiro is enjoying a chance at the postseason after an 11 year drought.
– Ackert also has a story on Joba who was very emotional after the game while reflecting on his injury filled off-season.
– Flip Bondy of The Daily News mentions that Girardi and the Yankees have Jeter to thank for the AL East crown.

SEE, THE YANKEES HAVE JETER TO THANK FOR WINNING THE DIVISION,…..
WWWWWWHAT!????
Please Jim, let’s just have a good day after the team won the Div. Heck, even Brett had a hit and scored a run.
Give credite where credits due shall we? Like maybe the whole team, working hard to pick each other up at times.
Ken – if Jim wants to single out Jeter for praise ….why not? BACK OFF!
You’re right , Jim, Flip Bond,’s article was right on Jeter was jYankee MVP. Cano is their best player but he had long periods of inconsistency and did not hit well with RISP. Jeter was amazing throughout thebyear.
A couple of quick things……………firstly, good morning to all our metropolitan bloggers, and congratulations! All that wild Joe Girardi venting, went for naught. As it should have. As for poster Doug, I can not find anything with his politics that I disagree with. Good man. Let me buy the first beer. Lets all have a great day, and enjoy.
patrick, the biggest political news of the day yesterday was Teddy winning the race at the Washington game. Yanks need to speak softly and carry a big stick, I’m predicting the Yanks- Nats series.
I’m surprised the Nats haven’t used that quote yet!
lets all have a bad day and not enjoy it,……. how about that?
jim2222/4444….”how about that?”…you do as you wish. Lets just say, that my remarks were not directed towards you.
its a very sad day though
how you like them souir apples?
Just in case everyone forgot, the Yanks will win the series this year because Kentucky won the NCAA Tournament! I think it has happened five or six times.
Doug….good afternoon. Have read your posts, and enjoy your humor, and your outlook on life. Look forward to speaking with you. A good fit……………………take care.

Well, it’s official. Red Sox fired Bobby Valentine. Why they hired him in the first place, who knows.
Just a bad mix for both sides.
