Just like CC last night, Andy doesn’t have great velocity but his command is excellent. He’s dropping that back door curve on the outside corner to RH hitters then putting them away with the Cutter on the inside corner for pop ups and weak groundballs.
Cory Wade…had a bit of shooting star in him, didn’t he? A nice run at the start, hit that speed bump, and spiraled off track…..and now he’s DFA. Good guys, have a way of rebounding. I wish him well.

In the past when Alex has struggled, he always had his strong resume to back him up and the Yanks didn’t have anyone even remotely as good to put in. But now with Alex coming off a poor season and Chavez with a friggin .900+ OPS vs RHP, you have to go with Chavey

4 for 18 with 5 strikeouts, 0 XBH, 0 RBI, 0 Runs and 7 LOB for the ARod/Swish/Tex/Granderson team. Tex had 2 of the singles.
Game 3 starter Miguel Gonzalez is another “veteran” rookie from Mexico so doesn’t have a lot of history vs Yankee hitters. But he beat the Yanks twice this year including a 7 inning 4-hit shutout with 9 Ks on August 31st. Here are some interesting #s against him:
Chavez 3 for 6 with a HR
Ibanez 2 for 6 with a HR
Swisher 0 for 6 with 5 Ks
Teixeira 0 for 3 with 3 Ks
Grandy 0 for 6 with 3 Ks
Basd on Chavez and Ibanez’ success in small samples, they both have to play. I’d bench ARod for Chavez but if that’s too much for Joe to stomach he should sit Swisher. I’d go:
Jeter/Ichiro/Cano/Chavez/Tex//Granderson/Swish/Martin/Ibanez
You then have ARod & Nunez as RH pinch hitters when Buck goes to Matusz and Patton
