Alex Rodriguez has been benched, Mark Teixeira is batting cleanup, and Curtis Granderson has been moved UP one spot in the order.
Such is life in the land of the New York Yankees.
I can only laugh at what has transpired the last week.
Alex Rodriguez has been many things in his career. A juicer, a choker, an MVP, and a bad teammate are all labels that have been affixed to him. ARod can now add scapegoat to his resume, and make no mistake about it, that is exactly what this is all about.
Curtis Granderson and Nick Swisher have been even more dreadful than ARod has, yet in the lineup they remain today.
Mark Teixeira has hit only THREE home runs in 121 postseason at-bats as a Yankee and yet in the lineup he remains.
The Yankees inability to score rests squarely on the shoulders of a group of choking underachievers, of which ARod is only one member.
Never has a more negative aura surrounded a postseason Yankee team.
Try and enjoy the game.

Exactly.
Michael, you’re the one who always complains about Teixeira’s AVG and OBP but the one time where both stats are doing terrific (this postseason), you instead go to a fairly meaningless stat like post-season HRs over the last 4 years – that’s just ridiculous.
Proves that no matter what Tex does it will never be good enough for him. Whatever.

Now I know A-Rod has been hitting just awfully, but look at his career numbers vs. Hammel: .364 AVG / .462 OBP / .909 SLG / 4 HR / 9 RBI!
Swisher has hit .286 AVG / .444 OBP / .571 SLG off Hammel in his career.
Granderson has hit just .214 off him, with 1 HR in 14 AB.
Good thing is that the Yanks have a bunch of guys who have done really well against Hammel:
Ichiro: .583 AVG / .615 OBP / .583 SLG in 12 AB.
Cano: .348 AVG / .333 OBP / .522 SLG, 1 HR, 4 RBI in 23 AB.
Jeter: .318 AVG / .318 OBP / .500 SLG, 1 HR, 4 RBI in 22 AB .
6 of his 8 hits an all 3 of his homer runs were between 06 and 08. Both Hammel and Alex were very different back then.

Speaking of bad aura, if you read the blogs and message boards, that’s all there is is bad aura. This group of miserable, spoiled, self entitled group of whiners known A’s Yankee fans makes you want to throw up in both shoes and take a five mile hike through a volcano. These arethe people that have been complaining all year about an offense that ranks at or near the top in pretty much every important category in the AL. These are the people that have pointed to teams like Texas (where are they now?) and Detroit (had FIVE earned runs through their first four games) an said “why can’t we be that consistent?”. It sucks that so many of them have gone cold; even our biggest offensive threat is back to swinging at everything. After last night there’s calls for blowing up the team and rebuilding, A’s if these same fans have the emotional fortitude to withstand any sort of rebuilding process.

If you want to blame someone for the loss last night put it on Girardi. He failed to get Gardner into the game defensively. If he did Ichiro would have moved to right field and easily would have held Manny to a single.
