Everybody weigh in on this. Hamilton for 3-4 years or Cano for 7-8?
who do we have playing 2B in this scenario if we pick hamilton?
Who do we have in RF right now and next year when we lose Grandy and will need two OF’s?
Booo I ask a question and you come back at me with a question. hahaha..
Honestly for as much as I love Cano. I’d lean towards the Hamilton 4 year deal. But it would have to mean Grandy is traded.
Good question Matthew S., if possible I would bring up one of the players from the farm and give them a chance to compete for the job. By doing that one must watch the numbers closely…if they are reasonably close to his farm numbers +/-, I would believe he maybe more than a flash in the pan. Of course once he gets to the Show he will have to adjust to the pitchers or, end up in AAA.
One thing I have never understood is, if a player is hitting real well in A ball then goes to AA and adjusts to it and repeats his good hitting /fielding, Why must he spend 2/3 years in AA-AAA? They seem to think the players aren’t ready until they are around 24-25, before even thinking about bringing him up for a look-see. Maybe the talent report they have is much more concise than the one everyone else gets, well we know that is true…I have seen them (about 5+ pages of stuff, maybe even when you wet the bed last).
A lot of words for one little answer but, I am on a roll! lol
Matt– for me hamilton easy do not want an extended contract for Cano at age 30+ or anyone!! do the longer term at at 25ish running to 33 or so. Yes to Hamilton then keep looking thru trades. Grandy to ? for youth. Still willing to overwhelm for Stanton.
